Why separate the two checks?
Order confirmation asks whether the customer wants to proceed. Address confirmation checks the delivery information recorded for that order. Keeping these steps separate helps the customer understand what they are agreeing to and where to correct a mistake.
The confirmation sequence
1. Confirm the order
Send the eligible COD order-confirmation message. If the customer confirms, continue to the address step. Do not send the final “order confirmed” message before the required address action is complete.
2. Show the delivery details
Show the customer name, address lines 1 and 2, city, state, PIN code and phone number. The address message does not need another list of products or the order number. Offer two clear actions: Confirm Address and Update Address.
3. Complete the appropriate path
If the customer confirms the existing address, complete the confirmation sequence. If they provide an updated address, validate the information needed for the order and save the change in Shopify before confirming success.
The update path should not send the same address-confirmation prompt again after a successful save. The customer has already supplied the correction.
Customers will not all write an address the same way
Some people use separate lines; others send a single sentence. Design intake around the address information, not one exact typing format. If a necessary detail is missing or ambiguous, ask for that detail or involve the team. Do not guess a PIN code, overwrite a valid field with an uncertain value or tell the customer the update succeeded before it has been saved.
Keep later workflows separate
An optional COD-to-prepaid offer is a different workflow. When used with this journey, it follows completion of the order/address steps and the confirmation message. It should not interrupt an unresolved address change.
Prepaid confirmation is also distinct. ConnektFlow's existing prepaid flow sends a confirmation message; it does not automatically inherit the COD address gate.
What should the team test?
Test confirming the existing address, submitting a complete replacement, sending an incomplete reply and retrying after a failed store update. Check both the customer conversation and the saved Shopify order. A message that looks correct is not enough if the underlying address was never changed.
Common questions
Should an updated address be confirmed again?
Not in this designed journey. After the valid update is saved, send the update-and-order confirmation directly.
What if the customer asks an unrelated question?
Route it to an appropriate response or team member instead of treating the text as an address.
Is this a guarantee against failed deliveries?
No. It is an information-checking workflow, not a guarantee about customer behaviour or carrier delivery.
